Answer

15 July
Suraj Kund, Faridabad:

Dear Diary,

Today I visited the Crafts Mela at Suraj Kund. It truly felt like Mini India. More than twenty states had set up stalls, and Rajasthan was the theme state. I admired colourful textiles, pottery, woodwork and metal crafts made by talented artisans. Foreign countries also participated, which made the fair more interesting. Folk dances and music filled Chaupal and Rangmanch. The food courts offered delicious dishes from different regions. I bought a small handmade lamp as a memory. The visit taught me that India’s artistic traditions are rich and diverse. I returned tired but happy, carrying new respect for our craftspeople.

Question 2: You paid a visit to an Old Home with other N.S.S. volunteers. Using the hints and your own ideas, make a diary entry of what you saw and experienced there: senior citizens above 60; peaceful surroundings; spacious clean rooms and baths; regular medical check-ups; library; recreation.

Answer

18 July
New Delhi:

Dear Diary,

Our N.S.S. group visited an Old Home today. I expected a sad place, but the peaceful surroundings surprised me. The building was spacious and clean, with comfortable rooms and well-maintained bathrooms. The senior citizens, all above sixty, received regular medical check-ups and healthy meals. A small library and recreation room kept them engaged. Some residents told us stories about their work and families. We helped arrange books, listened to them and joined a singing session. I realised that older people need companionship as much as care. The visit made me grateful for my family and determined to spend more time with my grandparents.

Question 3: While going home you came across many children on the roads at crossroads with begging bowls in their hands. You are shocked and disgusted at this picture of a country that boasts of being a major economy. Record your experience in your diary.

Show answer

Answer

22 July
New Delhi:

Dear Diary,

While returning home today, I saw many children begging at a busy crossroads. Their thin clothes, tired faces and pleading hands disturbed me deeply. Some motorists ignored them, while others gave coins without asking why they were there. I kept thinking about the schools and safe homes these children deserve. Begging may provide food for one day, but it cannot build a secure future. Government agencies, schools and voluntary groups must work together to rescue such children, provide education and support their families. I felt ashamed that we often pass by without helping. I will speak to our social-service club and find a responsible way to contribute.
